In this week’s Overshare episode I interview former frat boy turned conscious feminist, Andrew Lohse, about his book “Confessions of an Ivy League Frat Boy.” This is a world I know little about, because I went to the Lilith Fair of higher education – Sarah Lawrence. At my school the girls wore black, smoked cigarettes, and dabbled in lesbianism. Yet for millions of Americans, fraternity culture is the defining aspect of college life, and hazing rituals that are not only brutal, but also gross, are the norm. Andrew and I discuss the meta implications of the ivy league Greek life, and what it means for society when the men who rule our country spend four years drinking insane amounts of alcohol while psychologically/physically abusing their so-called brothers. Call me old fashioned, but when it becomes a common practice to make someone drink your piss, maybe we need to reevaluate the men we are breeding who make decisions about the fate of the earth.
